Spring Break 2014/Foundation Repair

Over Spring Break this year we had our foundation and plumbing fixed. Long story short, we had a water leak (or a few, I'm not sure) and although we thought that caused our foundation to cave, State Farm didn't think so (and wouldn't pay for anything). So in the process of getting everything fixed, we had to move EVERYTHING that was downstairs and rip up all of the flooring. Once I realized how crazy it would all get, I decided the kids and I should visit Keith's family in Houston for a few days...

Starting to pack everything away...

We had to move everything upstarts into the kid's rooms...

Keira's 1st stay in a hotel!

Making some phone calls...

And since we were kicked out from our house for the repairs, we spent a lot of time at the mall :-)

Selling some ice cream...

...and doing some shopping!

The next day, my good friend Jessica was so sweet to offer to let us join her at the Dallas Aquarium before heading down to Houston...the kids had a blast!

Our girls!

Dylan loved the shark tunnel!

Dylan enjoying some park time and Fireman Sam at Grandmom and Papa's house!

I was hoping we would've returned and everything would've been fixed, but unfortunately, that was not the case...I was not happy with the plumbers and I left plenty of voicemails letting them know that...

And that had to push back our new flooring installation...such a headache!

We basically had to live out of our bedroom for a week...all 4 of us...

But now everything is finally done and we are so happy to have a functioning house again!!! I NEVER want to go through that again...especially with 2 toddlers!

Dylan's 1st soccer game

This spring we decided to sign Dylan up for soccer, and Jackson's family signed him up for the same team too! He had been talking about playing soccer all week and, of course, the day of he wanted nothing to do with it. He didn't want to put his team shirt on and sat out most of the practice, and it didn't help that Keith was one of the coaches either. But we were finally able to get him out on the field in time for game time. He spent most the game attached to Keith's side and he was pretty upset that he didn't get to kick the ball (well, it's hard when you're not running after it...he's so my child), but he was on the field and that was good enough for us!

Here's hoping this is something that Dylan can stick with!!!

Happy 1st Birthday, Keira!

I know I said it with Dylan, but I can't believe how quickly a year has gone. Keira has brought so much happiness and laughter to our family, and our lives would not be the same without her. This month we celebrated her 1st birthday at Gymboree. After she turned 1 we took the bottle away and she is doing awesome without it. I was worried she wouldn't adapt very well, but she's eating anything and everything and is using a cup with straw. She is also walking everywhere and loves climbing stairs (especially trying to sneak up them by herself when she thinks no one is watching). She has started to attach herself to Keith and I, so it takes her a while to warm up to people she doesn't see on a daily basis. She also thinks everything is a phone and likes talking on them, and loves stealing everyone's iPhones and iPads from them. She is babbling more, but still isn't using any real words besides "mama" and "more". Keira loves playing with Dylan and wrestling him to the ground, which he doesn't always love. She can also point to things using 1 finger and likes to feed everyone. She is such a happy baby, but when she's told "no" or doesn't get what she wants (or doesn't get it right away), she can have some major tantrums...should be fun in 12 more years! Keira likes looking at books and stacking blocks. We're so excited to see what the next year brings us!
