More Birthdays!!!

Yesterday Dylan and I were so thankful to have been invited to Mason's 1st birthday party! I went to grad school with Mason's mommy, Miranda, and we've kept in touch. She's an amazing mother to an amazing little boy! And we were so excited that it was at Gymboree!!! In case you haven't heard about how I feel about Gymboree, I love it and I think it did great things for Dylan's gross motor development. Keith couldn't come with us because UNT had a home game last night, but the good thing is that Rodger came into town this weekend to go to the game with Keith, so we've had fun visiting with him (and Dylan especially loves when Grandpa S. bring presents with him!).

When we walked in we were so surprised and excited to see that David was going to be teaching Mason's birthday party...David was Dylan's Gymboree teacher this summer and we LOVE him! I think Dylan was a little overwhelmed with all the new people so he was very clingy and cried a bit at first, which is NOT like him at all. But he eventually warmed up and had a great time!
Dylan being scared and anti-social at first...

Dylan loves playing with (eating) the waffle balls....

"Mommy, everyone is so silly!!!"

Bubbles and Parachute Time!

My boy loves a good snack time...

"Happy Birthday..."

After the party Dylan & I enjoyed a walk around the neighborhood in his wagon and he completely wore me out. It was such an exhausting day but a great one...Happy Birthday Mason, we had such a fun time!

Week in the Life

It took me a while to finally do another "Week in the Life" blog and it was really hard to keep up, as I had expected. But I managed to pull it off, so here we go!

Friday, September 16th: It finally rained in North Texas! And Dylan, I mean Batman, was super excited to see it!!! I had to attach the video...it's too cute :)

Saturday, September 17th: We went to Addison's Oktoberfest for the first time this year. Now I'm not too crazy about German food, but Dylan seemed to enjoy the bratwurst and they at least had some hamburgers. He also loved the bounce house in the "Fun Zone"!

Sunday, September 18th: Today we decided to head over to Castle Hills, grab some ice cream, and have a picnic by their lake. Dylan had fun running around and watching the ducks. And mommy enjoyed her banana split (and not sharing it, either)!!

Monday, September 19th: I didn't realize until about 9pm that I had not taken a picture today, so Hooch finally makes an appearance! This is his "I'm taking my bath, so get that stupid camera out of my face" look...

Tuesday, September 20th: Payday!!! Keith had a dentist appointment after school so Dylan and I went on a date to Chili's. This was taken before he begin screaming his head off and tantruming in front of everyone...not my best "mommy" moment...

Wednesday, September 21st: Dylan has started getting interested in what we do and wants to help or try to do it himself. So we've given him the job of feeding he cat and he loves it. All I have to say is "Dylan, let's go feed kitty" and he knows exactly where to go and what to do. I can't wait until all I have to say is "Dylan, wash mommy's car" :)

Thursday, September 22nd: The weather was so amazing today that we decided to stop at the park after school. And of course, Dylan was more interested in playing with the light pole than playing with the playground equipment.

Friday, September 23rd: 1st Day of Fall!!! I was so excited that I figured it was time for pumpkin shirts! The best time of the year is starting...finally!

So that was a week in our life...hope you enjoyed! :)

Yea for birthdays!

Going to birthday parties are so much more fun now that Dylan can move around independently and is able to keep up with other kids! Today we were invited to Bridget's birthday party and had a blast. Keith knows Bridget's daddy from college and then some...both trombone players (music ed majors), Jonathan student taught with Keith, Jonathan works with one of Keith's good friends, and they play disc golf occasionally. Keith also knows Bridget's mommy because they both taught fine arts in C-FB. Now I know Bridget's mommy because we worked at the same school briefly for a year, even though I technically knew her before then. Not to mention they live like 5 minutes from us...with a history like that, how are Dylan and Bridget not destined to be together?!?!?! :)

I loved the "bee" theme with all the yellow...very well presented Anna!

They even had a bounce house!!! Dylan's first, and he had a blast :)

He hasn't quite figured out how to jump yet, so he mainly sat and enjoyed bouncing up and down to the others jumping.

It also gave you crazy hair because of the static...check out Bridget's hair after coming out! Precious!

My boy never says "no" to food...even if it means sitting at the table alone.

Yea, a friend joined him! I think she just felt bad for him though...pity dates already :(

Birthday girl in her adorable "bee" dress...

Dylan socializing with the bigger kids..."so are we hittin' up the mall after this or just chillin' at Starbucks instead?"

Thank you so much the invite Anna, Jonathan, and Bridget! Unfortunately Dylan and I are both fighting colds right now, so Keith decided to escape the germs and go to UNT's 1st home game tonight...he's so excited about his season tickets this year! So Dylan and I had a fun dinner at Chick-fil-A, went shopping for some fall clothes for him at Old Navy, and walked around Michael's for a bit while I tried to decide what I wanted to make...I walked out empty handed but I'm really excited about making a UNT wreath for the front door. Perhaps the mood will strike again tomorrow!

Labor Day Weekend

School has officially started for everyone and we are finally starting to get back in the swing of things. Dylan has been doing amazing when dropped off, and aside from his little issue of biting his friends, he seems to be having a good time at school. He's also starting to pitch in with the house work, like helping to feed the cat and fold the laundry...

Well I guess Mother Nature read my last blog and finally decided to help us out with this nasty heatwave here in North Texas. A cold front came through this weekend and we've had amazing weather the past 2 days. We were able to take Dylan to the park yesterday! We hadn't been there since early June, before Dylan was able to walk and run around, so it was so fun to see how much more he was able to do on his own. He was even able to go down the big slide all by himself!

Today was Labor Day so we decided to spend our day off at the Dallas Arboretum. I've wanted to take Dylan there all summer but couldn't with the extreme heat, so I was so excited to finally get the chance. Plus Joey came down for the 3-day weekend, so I was happy he could join us too.
Ever since I received this sweater vest from my friend Nicole I've been dying to put it on him... I think he looks adorable!!!

Dylan's favorite part was playing in the water with daddy :)

And also running down the hill making daddy and Uncle Joey chase after him...

He was extremely annoyed by the camera at first (but why!?!? It's been in his face his entire life!), but he warmed up to it.

Again, he loved playing with the water...

But where's Dylan?!

There he is!!!

My new favorite thing is making picture collages on Lightroom 3...

We had a great time but were exhausted when it was over. I'm so happy we finally had a chance to do this...and that I have such a photogenic husband and son :) Now the only thing better than a 3-day weekend is a 4-day work week!!!
